The Buckinghamshire Best Kept Village Competition was founded in 1957 and the competition’s objectives are to encourage entrants to work together as a community, involving all age groups, to make villages and towns more attractive places, not only for residents but also for visitors.
Buckingham Town Council has entered the Buckinghamshire Best Kept Village Competition for the Michaelis Cup category. Buckingham will be judged on the provision, maintenance, and overall appearance of various things. These include the cemetery, greens, playing fields, children’s play areas, outdoor recreation facilities, designated nature conservations, floral displays, community facilities, general environmental features, shops, pubs, bus stops, bus shelters, public seating, dog bins, noticeboards, information signs, and War memorial. The quality of competition entry and evidence of community engagement will also be taken into consideration when judging.
With the exception of shops & pubs, only amenities owned and managed by Buckingham Town Council will be listed and judged.
This year, judging will take place between Saturday 1st June – Sunday 14th July 2024. During the time, and beyond the competition, we are encouraging residents to help keep Buckingham clean and tidy.
