Buckingham’s Remembrance Parade 2024

The Buckingham Remembrance Day Parade, organised by the Royal British Legion and supported by Buckingham Town Council, will be held on Sunday 10 November. The parade will leave Market Hill at 10.30 am proceeding to the war memorial at St Peter and St Paul’s Church for a commemorative service. Following the service, the parade will return to Market Hill, where it will formally conclude.

To ensure the safety of participants, a No Parking Order and road closures will be in place from 7.00 am to 12.00 noon. The affected roads include Castle Hill, Castle Street, Market Square, Market Hill, West Street (up to Western Avenue) and Bridge Street. Additionally, School Lane will operate as a one-way street from Nelson Street to West Street during this period. Drivers are kindly asked to be patient and mindful of these closures, implemented for the safety of everyone involved.

For attendees of the service at St Peter and St Paul’s Church, a large outdoor screen will be available again this year, located along the church’s outer wall near the entrance. This screen will broadcast the service, offering a clear view of the proceedings and the war memorial. Directional signs will be posted by the church gates to guide visitors to the viewing area along the footpath.

The screen has been made possible through joint funding by the Buckingham Royal British Legion branch and Buckingham Town Council.

Councillor Robin Stuchbury, Chair of the Town Centre and Events Committee said: “Remembrance Day and our Buckingham parade are times to gather and honour those who, through their service and sacrifice, secured our freedoms. It’s essential that Buckingham Town Council collaborates with community organisations to ensure this significant occasion and our shared act of remembrance are upheld. Through our joint tribute at the War Memorial, civic representatives, elected members, local organisations and community groups can pay personal tribute to the forebears who gave their lives for ours.”
