Buckingham Fringe Week 2024

Enjoy a jam-packed week full of arts, sports, and cultural activities during this year’s Fringe Week which will take place between Saturday 20th and Sunday 28th July 2024.

Busking by Gracenotes

Sat 20nd July, 10am – 12:30pm, opposite Waitrose

Gracenotes, a singing group based in Buckingham and Banbury, will be performing original folk and contemporary songs at the Busking spot. Gracenotes will be collecting donations for BACAB which raises funds for Citizens Advice in Buckingham, Winslow, surrounding areas.

Family Fun Day

Sun 21st July, 1pm – 4pm, Lace Hill Sports & Community Centre

Vibrant community fun for the whole family to enjoy including live entertainment, inflatables, zorbs, traditional games and more!

Oxford Fiddle Group

Tues 23rd July, 8pm, The Radcliffe Centre

The Oxford Fiddle Group perform pieces from England, Scotland, Ireland and the USA. Performances include the fiddle, Celtic harp, mandolin and concertina.

Art in the Market

Join us at the Cattlepens in the Town Centre for a totally free afternoon of creativity. Artists of all ages are invited to put paint to paper and make a masterpiece with our art supplies.

Buckingham Society: Summer Lecture

Join The Buckingham Society and Thea Young, Visitor Services Coordinator at Sulgrave Manor for a special lecture ”Sulgrave Manor, the Washington family, our American connections and the Manor’s unique status.

A special session for children with SEND between 3-12yrs. Lots of sensory, calm, interactive activities to enjoy.

Disco Bingo

Buckingham Equality, Community Diversity & Inclusion Working Group logo

Fri 26th July, 8pm with cards available from 7:15pm, The Kings Head.

DJ led Bingo using music instead of numbers! There will be three games on the night – with cash prizes to be won.

Food served from 5pm – 9pm.

Bingo cards are £2 and can be purchased upon arrival. Over 18’s only.

Comedy Night

Join us for a roaring Comedy Night co-hosted with the University of Buckingham Student Union, at the Old Tanlaw Mill.

Rhythm and Song Workshop with Concert

Sun 28th July, 3:30pm – 5pm, Embleton Way Scout Hut & Community Centre

Find the joy in music and rhythm with Buckingham’s Swan Singers. Following a fun workshop, participants will be invited to perform a short performance with Buckingham Swan Singers.

Totally Me: Totally Buckingham Art Display

On all week! Visit the cattle pens to discover an amazing community art piece. Totally Me: Totally Buckingham asked individuals across Buckingham to produce 20cm paintings focused on self expression.

Hundreds of these mini paintings have been gathered together into a collaborative piece that celebrates the diversity within our community through self-expression as individuals within a community space.

The project was designed to include as many people as possible of different ages and abilities to create art that they felt represented them. Participating groups include:

  • The Buckingham School
  • Royal Latin School
  • Buckingham Primary School
  • Bourton Meadow Academy
  • Lace Hill Academy
  • George Grenville Academy
  • Furze Down School
  • Friends of the University of Buckingham
  • Lace Hill Manor Care Home
  • Hamilton House Care Home

Free Crafts at the Chantry Chapel

The Chantry Chapel will offer free children’s craft activities on Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th during between 10am and 1pm, and a face painter will be on site to brings some extra smiles at a small cost on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th July between 12pm and 3pm.
