Three years of Celebrate Buckingham Day

Kick-starting our summer events is Celebrate Buckingham Day on Saturday 17th June 2023. The event will run from 11am – 3pm in the Paddock in Bourton Park and will showcase over 25 local voluntary, community and not-for-profit organisations.

Buckingham Ukulele Group and Crazy Heart will be performing songs from various genres throughout the day. Whilst, children can enjoy a bouncy castle, bungee run, and giant Jenga all for free provided by the local inflatable hire company, Bouncy Macs. Make sure to visit our face painter, Pyxis Beauty Creative Make Up by Becki Pontefract, and pick a cool design – colourful rainbows and cheeky animals look good on anyone!

Catch a bite to eat or enjoy drinks from our brilliant vendors. Savoury options include traditional German sausages from Sizzlers Street Food, Asian-inspired rice pots and noodles from We Will Wok You and Good Times Café with their locally loved grilled cheese sandwiches and gourmet bakes. If you need a sweet fix, Say Doughnuts will be on hand with various flavours of doughnuts as well as supplying tea and coffee and Jay’s Ices will be providing ice cream. Roman Way Brewery will also be in attendance selling Cask Ale, Cider, Gin and soft drinks to help you wash all that delicious food down.

Each stall participating in the event will have an activity you can try – firm favourites maggot racing and whack the rat will be returning this year alongside treasure hunts, noughts and crosses, quoits and other traditional games.

Planning to come for the whole day? Bring a picnic blanket, low backed chair, dress appropriately for the weather, keep hydrated and enjoy the atmosphere of what we hope is another great year celebrating Buckingham.

Chairman of the Town Centre & Events Committee, Cllr Robin Stuchbury, said “Buckingham Town Centre and Events Committee see Celebrate Buckingham Day as one of those special occasions within Buckingham’s events calendar. It’s an opportunity to see the achievements and activities of valued local organisations that contribute and support the community in many ways, enriching people’s lives greatly. It also gives an opportunity to focus on Buckingham’s achievements while promoting what is best within our town, so I hope you’ll take the opportunity of being part of this event and we look forward to seeing you.”
