It’s time to get your pinny on and your frying pan at the ready and take part in Buckingham’s annual pancake races.
Organised by Buckingham Town Council the Pancake Races are held on the green outside St Peter & St Paul Church. This year they will be held during half term on Friday 17th February with the first race starting at 11 am.
Entry to take part is free. All you need to do is turn up with your frying pan and pinny. Categories for the races are under 5 years, 6 -11 years, 12-16yrs, adult, and team relay. A delicious prize will be given to the winner of each race.
Your team for the team relay should consist of four people. You could enter as a business, family, or as a group of friends.
Cllr Robin Stuchbury, Chairman of the TC&E Committee said “Once again we come to that time of the year when the annual Pancake Races take place. A once-a-year chance to beat your friends, and challenge the community, with a fun, frying pan-required, race.”
Spectators will also have plenty to do! The giant deckchair will be making an appearance. Pop-up Art in the Market will also be appearing – sit down and get creative outdoors, with free use of art materials which include watercolors and art pastels. You can also take part in the design of a swan contest for this summer’s huge art trail and the King Charles Community Art Project.
The BART Community bus is back in Buckingham as well as the new wheel-chair enabled car. The BART team is looking to spread the word to organisations that are looking for community transport with or without a driver. The BART team also has a new addition to the fleet which is ” Bernadette ” which is a new wheelchair-enabled car. The BART team is relaunching both vehicles at the Pancake day on Friday 17th February 2023 when both vehicles will be parked at the church for groups and individuals to have a look at, ask questions, and even have a sit-in it.
The BART community bus scheme has previously been supported with a grant by Buckingham Town Council.
